Grazie mille, Rimini, for ECSS 2025!
Dear [Name],
With 2,973 colleagues from 63 countries, the 30th ECSS Annual Congress in Rimini proved to be another milestone for the global sport science community. Whether you joined us in person, or followed the highlights from afar, we are excited to share the energy, achievements and memorable moments from this year’s Congress.
This year’s event officially kicked off with a Pre-Congress Programme that was a clear hit. While a visit to the Technogym Village was received with great enthusiasm, others also experienced a unique live swimming innovation showcase, titled ‘Where Technology Meets the Water’ on Monday, 30 June. The following day, an NSCA workshop on ‘Velocity-Based Training: Bridging the Gap between Athlete Testing and Programme Design’, a forward-looking session on ‘Life in Space’ and expert-led Masterclasses on academic publishing, mixed-methods studies, career navigation and more set the tone for the days that followed: 2,276 inspiring presentations across all formats underpinned the internationally high research quality in sport science. The LiveVoice App for the poster presentations, despite initial technical glitches on day 1, worked effectively during the following days, thus fulfilling our ongoing commitment to sustainable and participant-focused Congress experiences.
A special mention and congratulations go to our award winners:
- ECSS YIA Oral Presentations, 1st Place: Alexander Zero, The University of Western Ontario, Canada
- ECSS YIA Poster Presentations, 1st Place: Ingrid Eythorsdottir, The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Norway
- GSSI Sports Nutrition Award, 1st Place: Freyja Haigh, University of Exeter, UK
- EJSS Best Paper Award, 1st Place: Ella S. Smith, Australian Catholic University, Australia, et al.
- Bengt Saltin Run, 1st Place: Violeta Muñoz de la Cruz, Spain (Female) / Isacco Costa, Italy (Male)
We invite all authors to now share their work with the global community by submitting their research to the European Journal of Sport Science (EJSS). With the EJSS publishing open access with Wiley and reporting a Q1 impact factor, our Journal offers several advantages for scientists, including enhanced visibility, wider dissemination of research and greater impact within the scientific community. Check out ECSS Member benefits for publishing with EJSS here. Publish your content now!
The Congress also witnessed the launch of the inaugural ECSS Mentoring Programme with 28 Early Career Researcher mentees and their respective mentors meeting and connecting, setting stone for a fruitful 18-24 months of cooperation.
The SportEx brought together 49 exhibitors who showcased the latest innovations in sport science technology. We also extend special thanks to our 7 ECSS Partners and 10 Congress Partners, whose continued support underpins the success of our Congresses.
Of course, ECSS is also about the Social Programme! The Bengt Saltin Run, supported by Rimini Marathon and sponsored by Barilla, along the Adriatic coast and through Rimini’s historic centre witnessed a huge demand and participation of 366 marathoners. At the lively Friday Night Party at Coconuts, participants connected beyond the science, creating memories we hope will last.
We would like to thank our local hosts – the Universities of Bologna and Padova, our long-term partners, Congress sponsors, exhibitors, office team, technical team, boards, committees, speakers, participants, chairs, volunteers, the list is endless, for your support in organising and ensuring the Congress was a success!
Many cherished memories were etched during the Congress and our photographer Marco Angelini tried to capture these moments. You can check them out here.
Finally, for those who participated on-site, your feedback is invaluable. Please take a few minutes to complete our post-Congress survey via this link or the ECSS Congress App and help us further improve future Congresses.
