Thank You Glasgow & Hello Rimini!

THANK YOU, GLASGOW!

Dear [NAME],

We extend profound gratitude to all who joined us at the ECSS Annual Congress in Glasgow and contributed to its tremendous success. Your presence and participation made the event truly special!

From the first scientific session to the Closing Ceremony, ECSS Glasgow 2024 was a hub of engaging sport science. Participants had an array of options to choose from, including dynamic plenary sessions, invited and exchange symposia, insightful ECSS YIA presentations, hands-on Masterclasses, fruitful Special Interest Group sessions and many more scientific presentations. Moreover, Early Career Researchers and Fellows brainstormed opportunities to enhance professional development and career opportunities for all, through a planned mentorship programme. This diverse programme ensured that every participant could find content that aligned with their specific goals and interests.

Building on this experience, we encourage all participants to submit their final papers to the European Journal of Sport Science (EJSS). Publishing in the open-access EJSS offers several advantages for scientists, including enhanced visibility, wider dissemination of research and greater impact within the scientific community. Publish your content now!

The interest around the SportEx area was also palpable with the best-in-the-business exhibitors displaying their latest products and inventions in sport science.

For the first time and in lieu of the sustained digitisation process, the ECSS Congress App replaced the printed congress programme, offering participants interactive features such as creating individualised schedules, connecting and messaging with other participants and real-time updates. While we also launched the LiveVoice App for the poster presentations, unforeseen technical glitches hindered its successful implementation. Rest assured that we will work on it to be effective for the next congress.

Alongside the scientific programme, the socials too made their mark, be it the Bengt Saltin Run at Kelvingrove Park under unstable weather conditions attended by enthusiastic participants, the Civic Reception (representing the ECSS Farewell Reception) at the Glasgow Science Centre that brought out the child in many of us or the memorable Ceilidh dance during the Friday Night Party at Platform, coupled with some foot-thumping music by our very own congress participant DJ Raki.

We would like to thank our local host the University of the West of Scotland, our long-term partners, congress sponsors, exhibitors, office team, technical team, boards, committees, speakers, participants, chairs, volunteers, the list is endless, for your support in organising and ensuring the congress was a success!

Many cherished memories were etched during the congress and our photographer Steve Baker tried to capture these moments. You can check them out here.

We also very much value your feedback to further improve your congress experience to the best of our capability and ask those that have not done already, to share your thoughts via our congress questionnaire, available on the congress app or web version homepage.
