The ECSS YIA has been part of the ECSS Annual Congress since its first edition in 1996, offering Early Career Researchers the chance to participate in this prestigious competition for scientific excellence. Outstanding presentations will be recognised and presented at ECSS Lausanne 2026.
A jury comprising the ECSS Scientific Board and ECSS Scientific Committee will select the top 10 oral and top four conventional print poster presentations for awards.

Abstracts submitted in these areas as oral presentations can opt to be considered for the GSSI Sports Nutrition Award during the abstract submission process.
A jury consisting of GSSI representatives will award prizes for the five best oral presentations.

Application deadline: 13 February 2026 (24:00 CET)
TRAVEL GRANTS
ECSS YIA Travel Grant
The ECSS and its official publishing partner, Wiley, offer Travel Grants of €600 each for up to five ECSS YIA candidates, as part of the ECSS Annual Congress.
During the online abstract submission process, ECSS YIA applicants (i.e. oral or print poster abstracts) have the opportunity to opt in for the ECSS YIA Travel Grant, provided they fulfil the application requirements.
Following a review of all ECSS YIA applications by the ECSS Scientific Board and ECSS Scientific Committee, ECSS YIA Travel Grants are selected according to the results of the ECSS YIA’s abstract selection process. The selection follows the updated eligibility procedure, wherein applicants from all countries of residence are eligible; however, priority is given to candidates residing in countries from the DAC List of ODA Recipients. The grants are then offered to eligible candidates.
Further information can be found here.
Application deadline: 13 February 2026 (24:00 CET)
ECSS Travel Grant
ECSS offers three Travel Grants of €600 each to candidates who have successfully submitted an abstract (oral, print poster or E-Poster) for ECSS Lausanne 2026, independent from participating in the ECSS YIA competition.

Application deadline: 13 February 2026 (24:00 CET)
GSSI Young Scholar Travel Grant
To promote young scientists in the field of sports nutrition and hydration in their international career, GSSI supports two Early Career Researchers with €2,000 each to cover registration and travel costs to attend ECSS Lausanne 2026.
Abstracts submitted in these areas or related fields as oral or print poster presentations may opt to be considered for the travel grant during the abstract submission process.
