Following the call for candidates from 2 April 2025 and the call for elections from 8 May 2025, ECSS members were cordially invited to participate in this year’s election of the ECSS Executive Board Member.

 

Polls closed on 27 May 2025, 24:00 CEST.

 

ECSS Executive Board Election Result

 

Invite distribution: 3178 ECSS members

Voting participation: 15.51% (493 ECSS members)

  • Ignacio Ara, University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain:
    32.25% (159 votes)
  • Robert Lamberts, University of Groningen, Netherlands:
    27.79% (137 votes)
  • Barbara Wessner, University of Vienna, Austria:
    34.69% (171 votes)
  • Abstention:
    5.27% (26 votes)

Assoc Prof Barbara Wessner has accepted the nomination. Her term of office as a Member of the ECSS Executive Board will commence on 30 July 2025, whilst Prof Jørn Wulff Helge retires from the Executive Board after years of outstanding support to the College.

 

Other Changes in the Executive Board

In December 2024, during the ECSS Executive Board’s Winter Meeting, Prof Andrew Jones was elected as President Elect of ECSS. He will commence his term in office from 30 July 2025.

 

Prof Janice Thompson will also take over the office as the ECSS President and Prof Alexander Ferrauti will become Past President from the same day.
